Fleet Feet Madison also specializes in a unique customer experience. Regardless of your experience, fitness level, or ability, we will take the time to determine what you need, and will help you make an educated decision on the shoes, apparel, and accessories that work best for you.

OUR FIT PHILOSOPHY

The Fleet Feet Sports FITLOSOPHY™ is our commitment to the concept of a proper FIT in all aspects of our lives - from our commitment to helping you find the proper FIT for your running shoes, to assisting you in determining how running, walking, or an active lifestyle fits into your life. Simply stated, FITLOSOPHY™ is our FIT Philosophy and our approach to everything we do. Our FITLOSOPHY™ begins by ensuring that runners and walkers of all abilities (and ages) are fit with the proper footwear and technical apparel to meet their individual needs.

It's Our Way of Doing Business

Whether you walk or run we will take the time to get to know you and your needs. Our experienced staff is trained to make recommendations for the products that best suit the individual so that you can continue to do what you do as long as you wish and as comfortably as possible.

Our first step is to find out more about you in order to match you with potential solutions. Our next step is to take a close look at what is happening with your feet by examining your bare foot. The bare foot reveals to us much evidence of your individual biomechanics. After we look at your feet, we will then measure your foot and arch lengths in an un-weighted seated position and then a weighted standing position, comparing the differences.

FIT

Customers may then be asked to run or walk on either the in-store treadmill or on the sidewalk outside the store. Our staff will watch and analyze a runner's strike (the customer's foot impacting the ground) and their biomechanics (their running stride). Both strike and stride are evaluated by the Fleet Feet pros and we use this as an opportunity to discuss with the customer their individual needs.

All footwear is designed and manufactured to compliment specific foot shapes and sizes. Based upon our analysis of the customer's stride and strike, combined with details of a customer's specific foot and arch shape, a Fleet Feet associate will help you select the model that will best suit you, the customer, both in terms of providing support as well as performance. We will also tell you if we see that you would benefit from the internal support of a footbed (shoe insert). In the case that you may need help beyond our expertise, we have a listing of local healthcare providers that we can recommend to you.

Diva Night

Fleet Feet Madison Winter Destination Marathon

Austin MarathonWe are once again working with Race Day Events on a destination marathon for this Winter. The destination this year is Austin, Texas for the Austin Marathon on February 15, 2009. The training program will start on October 13, 2008 and we will host an informational meet at Fleet Feet on Monday, September 22 at 7:15pm. We will cover information about the training program as well as travel and hotel arrangements. Wednesday Morning Women's Run

Join us Wednesdays at 8:30am for our Wednesday Women's Run at Fleet Feet Sports Madison. We will meet in front of the store for a 3-5 mile run.

Please note our 6:15 am Tuesday Morning run from Harbor Athletic Club will end on Sept 30th due to darkness and resume in April.

Gilda's Run

Join us on October 18th at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in Middleton for the Gilda's Run - a 5 Mile Run or 2 Mile Run/Walk. The event is a part of the Grand Opening Celebration of Gilda's Club in Madison.

Comedian Gilda Radner's dream was to create a gathering place where men, women, and children with cancer could, along with their families and friends, engage in a life-enriching program of social and emotional support. The result was Gilda's Club.

Meriter Sports Medicine

A physical therapist from Meriter Sports Medicine will be doing injury screenings at Fleet Feet Sports Madison on the following date:

    Please call 833-9999 if you would like to make an appointment. They will do an injury screening every 15 minutes from 9am-11am.

    Frequent Miler Program

    Frequent Miler

    Beginning August 1st, 2008, Fleet Feet Sports Madison will launch our Frequent Miler Program for all of our fun run participants.

    Here's how it works: All you have to do is come to Fleet Feet fun runs and log your miles. Once you have logged enough miles during a one year period (August to August), you will receive some great prizes. Here is the mileage-reward breakdown:

      Goal Mileage -- Reward

    • 100 Miles -- Fleet Feet Sports Frequent Miler Group Shirt
    • 200 Miles -- Fleet Feet Sports Water Bottle or Fleet Feet Sports Sticker
    • 300 Miles -- $10 off Shoes
    • 400 Miles -- Fleet Feet Track Bag
    • 500 Miles -- Fleet Feet Sports Socks (Defeet)
    • 600 Miles -- 20% off Amphipod
    • 700 Miles -- Clip On Running Light
    • 800 Miles -- Fleet Feet Hat/Visor
    • 900 Miles -- Fleet Feet Sports Singlet/Race Shirt

    *Please note we reserve the right to substitue prizes if necessary. The Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday/weekend fun runs are eligible, as well as the Fleet Feet New Year's Day Dash and Diva Dash races. Only those miles run at sanctioned Fleet Feet group runs and races will be eligible for the Frequent Miler Program, and it will be your responsibility to log your miles after each fun run. It doesn't matter how fast you go, as long as you cover the miles, so join us and become a Fleet Feet Frequent Miler!


    Group Run

    Monday Night Rush Hour Run

    • Join us at Fleet Feet for a group run of 5 miles at 5:45pm, instead of sitting in traffic!

    Tuesday Morning Run

    • Join us at Harbor Athletic Club
    • Run begins at 6:15am - Meet at the entrance to Harbor Athletic Club
    • 4.5 miles
    • Route is through the Pheasant Branch Conservancy
    • Last run will be September 30 due to darkness. We will resume in the Spring!

    Tuesday Evening Run - with the Brocach Running Club

    • Join our Friends at the Brocach Irish Pub on Tuesday Evenings
    • 7:30pm at the Brocach (7 West Main Street - on the Square)
    • 4 to 6 miles
    • After the run each runner gets a $2 tap beer!

    Wednesday Women's Run

    • 3 to 5 miles from Fleet Feet
    • Run begins at 8:30am
    • Bring your jogging stroller if you have kids at home!

    Wednesday Night Run or Walk

    • Join us at Fleet Feet for a 2 to 5 mile group run or walk. Formerly a women's only run we have opened this run up to the men. This is low pressure group for those of you just starting a training program, coming back from an injury, or those looking for an easy pace run.

    Thursday Night Run

    • Join us for our 5 mile "roving" run.
    • Every Thursday Night @ 6:00pm

    • The group meets at a different location each week, listed below, or sign up for the FFTraining Yahoo Group, also below, to receive a weekly email on the location of the group run. Join us for the fun!

    Friday Morning Coffee Run

    Friday Morning @ 5:30am. Meet the regulars at Starbucks by the Copps Grocery Store on Century Avenue in Middleton for 3 to 5 miles. *There will not be a Fleet Feet leader for this run.

    Fleet Feet Training Group

    The Fleet Feet Training group is our "roving" running group. The group typically meets on Thursday evenings at 6:00pm (the Thursday Night Run) and Saturday mornings at 8:00am at different locations around the greater Madison area, unless there is an event. If you would like some group motivation please join us. There are a variety of pace groups within the larger group and our philosopy is that no runner will be left behind. Just sign up for our Yahoo Group email list below and you will receive an email each Tuesday announcing the time, location and distance of the training runs. Hope to see you out there!

The weekend long runs, Saturdays or Sundays, range from 5 to 20 miles based on what events people are training for and where they are in the training cycle.     Training Group Email List

    We have created a Fleet Feet Training Group on Yahoo Groups to help everyone find out when and where we will be meeting and for those of you that are looking for someone to run with. For all of you triathletes, bicyclists and swimmers out there this is also the place to find out about weekly group rides and open water group swims (in the summer months of course!).
